Magic Blue Smoke

-In collaboration with Benedikt Gross-

The Magic Blue Smoke is a substance that comes out of overheated elements in electronic products. If it occurs the electronics are close to its near end. Consequently, the appearance of the Magic Blue Smoke creates speculations and fears about the near end of a personal electronic product – like printers, cellphones or microwaves – it could go off every minute.

Against planned obscolescnence that drives economic cycles, diy communities invent preservation tools and scanners to determine the lifespan of their products and to magically enhance the lifetime of their products through refilling kits.
The scanner shown here is build out of different sensors to create a virtual model, that defines the actual state of the electronic product and its remaining working capacities.

Furthermore, a Magic Blue Smoke Fluid can help to give the life back easily to the device. Simply place the fabric directly over your electronic part, inject your smoke, and it´s done! The amount you need is depending on size, complexity, and damage. Like magic, the electronic part comes to life and is revived.
